As with all of the needles in my kits, I always use the largest needle for the task, as I find it a lot easier than small fiddly needles.
 
I have tried and tested this needle, and it is the largest and most easiest needle to use that can still be passed through the beads.  There is no need to use a small beading needle.

25g of mixed glass beads, seed, bugle, and rocaille beads in plastic storage box.  Colour:  A mix of green, orange, silver beads.
John James embroidery needle, long darner size 9.
