I have been a very busy bee making samples for my new print and stitch workshops. I have completed a few different types of samples, and then had the idea of adding beads, and found out that it works really well, and was so easy to do. So, I have added two dates for these workshops that are booking now at the links below, one is a weekend date and there is a weekday date too.
This workshop is suitable for beginners as all tuition will be provided.
Learn the art of printing without a press. Full step by step tuition is provided in this workshop where we will first create a printed background on fabric with gel plate printing.
Natural, botanical and abstract themes will be explored. Then we will select areas to stitch that will enhance the print, with stitch techniques such as needle weaving and other traditional but simple stitching techniques such as couching.
You will select the colour palette from a wide range of threads and beads, all materials will be available to take with you to complete the project at home if needed. Gel plate printing is very easy to do, and I will guide you through each step.
The print will be an abstract print, so there is no artistic skill required. The random areas of the print will then suggest areas to work into, and we will discuss this together, or you have free rein to be as creative as you like.
This workshop also involves a few simple stitches, and I will guide you through the steps. It is also suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be creative with the printing and embroidery. The embroidered panel can be applied to a number of objects, and you will have the materials to make yours into a needle case or a drawstring purse.
Kit Contents included in the price of the workshop:
The materials included for you to embroider in the session, and to take away with you:
- Organic cotton and bamboo fabric panels.
- Stranded cotton embroidery threads x 10
- Pure wool threads.
- Beads and embellishments.
- John James embroidery needles.
- Wool felt panels to make a needle case or other item. There is plenty of scope, which we will discuss in class.
- Cotton webbing drawstring and buttons.
All other materials that you will need will be for use within the studio, and you will have your kit to take home to finish the project.
Please note that the studio is on the third floor of Woodend Mill One, and there is no lift. If you have any questions before the day, then please email me at hello@littlehouseofvictoria.com
